Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort Guest Relations Releases Statement Regarding Ongoing Closures, Reservation Modifications, and More

Disney Parks Guest Relations has released a statement regarding the ongoing park closures. You can read the full statement below.

An update from Guest Relations at the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort

Dear Guests,

It’s an understatement to say that the past few months have been a challenging time for us all.  As we navigate the longest park closures in our histories, we’ve loved hearing your kind words of hope and seeing how you’ve made your own Disney memories at home has uplifted and inspired us all.

During this time, we know it can be difficult to plan your Disney vacation. Now more than ever we’re longing for the opportunity to come together with family and friends to escape, to celebrate, to re-do missed milestones, like birthdays and anniversaries and to make new Disney memories.

Given the current uncertainty as to when we will reopen Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort, we’ve had to periodically adjust the schedule for the ability to book hotel reservations at our resorts. While we’re currently accepting reservations starting in July 2020 at both resorts, as this situation evolves, timing may continue to shift.

As we continue to follow guidance from government and health care officials regarding how we’ll be able to reopen our parks and resorts in a responsible way, we may also need to make real-time adjustments to booked experiences, park tickets and park passes.

Please know that if any reservations you may have made need to change, we will work with you to make the necessary modifications.

If you haven’t already, we encourage you to check out the recent blog post from our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Pamela Hymel, on how we’re planning for re-opening our parks and resorts.

Our focus remains on the safety of the entire Disney community.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate this unprecedented time together. We continue to be moved by the incredible support and passion our guests have shown for our Disney family, and we hope to see you real soon.

  1. I love Disney and have a trip booked for the end of August, but I really wish Disney would give guests and fans more answers. Universal is re-opening on June 1. I get that Disney definitely won’t be open until at least the end of June, but some more definitive wording would be appreciated.

    1. I appreciate Disney’s care in not overstating the facts and avoidance of making opening date promises that have a good chance of needing to be walked back later. Further, I am confident they won’t be peer pressured into opening before they feel it is safe to do so, just because that other park opens. We’ve had to be flexible in many aspects of life lately so if I have to delay my early August visit, so be it. In fact, I am more and more thinking I will likely delay even if they are open by then. I’m also anxious for some concrete answers, but appreciate that Disney is more careful than some people we see on TV way too frequently, just spewing misinformation.

    2. Universal has thrown down the gauntlet.
There’s no way Disney World is waiting til July to open.
Stand by for the new opening date next week.

  2. I had reservations for April 3rd had to reschedule to June 13th and recieved email yesterday to reschedule again so I did for July 4th. Because my son turns 3 on June 25th they are making me pay an additional 731.00. I originally booked this trip over a year ago and our trip was planned many months before his 3rd birthday. To say I’m disappointed in disney is an understatement. If you aren’t going to open then stop taking reservations until you have a firm date. I feel I shouldn’t have to pay additional for my son turning 3 for 6 days before our trip since my original trip was planned for April while he was 2. Frustrated disney fan for sure here!!
