Since reopening to the public, Walt Disney World theme parks have replaced traditional character meet-and-greets with socially distanced alternatives. At the Magic Kingdom, characters can be seen throughout the park during The Royal Princess Processional and the Fantasyland Friends cavalcades. Since this is Florida, and rain is inevitable, Magic Kingdom has debuted modified “Rainy Day Cavalcades.”
The Royal Princess Processional Rainy Day Cavalcade
Cinderella waves graciously to park guests as she rides in an old-fashion Main Street car.
Snow White, Jasmine, Merida, Belle, Ariel and Elena all wave “Hello!” to guests from a large double decker vehicle.
Rapunzel and Tiana follow closely behind on their own royal parade float.
Fantasyland Friends Rainy Day Cavalcade
Gaston leads the Rainy Day Cavalcade, just as he leads the original one.
Mary Poppins follows, charmingly greeting guests as she passes.
Alice, Aladdin, Peter Pan, Pooh and Tigger all close out the cavalcade on another old-fashioned Main Street Transportation Company vehicle.
Let’s face it: Florida summers guarantee rain, and inconsistent rainfall at that. Typically, outdoor character interactions at Walt Disney World theme parks are postponed during the rain, so we are thrilled to see this creative solution being implemented at the Magic Kingdom. We believe these “Rainy Day Cavalcades” are a delightful addition to the parks.
