REVIEW: Desserts & Champagne Marketplace Returns with Delicious Liquid Nitro Chocolate Cake Pops for the Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival 2020

Desserts and champagne might sound too good to be true, but it’s not! The Desserts & Champagne Marketplace previously appeared at the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival from 2009 to 2016. After four years, it is making a triumphant return and we can’t wait to get a taste of some chocolate treats.

As a reminder, Desserts & Champagne is located inside the World Showplace, which may utilize a virtual queue if it gets too crowded. If you’re set on eating from any of the booths inside, make sure you plan accordingly!

*NEW* Liquid Nitro Chocolate Cake Pops – $4.00

The first cake pop we tried was this plain Liquid Nitro Chocolate Cake Pop.

Of the three we tried, this plain, non-embellished dessert gave us the best taste of the deliciously soft chocolate cake underneath.

We agreed that the cake pop tasted its best when still cold from being freshly nitro-dipped, however the chocolatey richness remains good even as the dessert thaws out… if you can wait that long to eat it!

*NEW* Liquid Nitro Chocolate Cake Pops with Crumbled Twix® Chocolate Bars – $4.00

This second Liquid Nitro Chocolate Cake Pop was the same chocolate cake as the first, however mixed up by having been dipped in crushed Twix chocolate bars.

From being dipped in the liquid nitro, the Twix crumbs became surprisingly soft, however still tasty, adding a different texture to the plain pop we tried above.

*NEW* Liquid Nitro Chocolate Cake Pops with Crushed M&M’s® Candies – $4.00

The third and final Liquid Nitro Chocolate Cake Pop we tried was this one, covered in crushed M&Ms candies.

Unlike the Twix crumbs we reviewed above, the crushed M&Ms added a lovely, satisfying crunch to the cake pop, not to mention that satisfying pop of candy color.

As all three cake pops featured the same filling, our reporters agreed that it was hard to pick a favorite. However, the choice of having it plain, with crushed Twix bars or crushed M&Ms candies means that guests can pick their personal preference among the three varieties.

*NEW* Frozen S’mores (Non-Alcoholic) – $4.00

This fun Frozen S’mores drink was a pleasant chocolate milk slushy, topped with mini marshmallows for that fun, s’mores look. This would make a great, refreshing option for children, as the adults take on the champagne offerings!

*NEW* Frozen S’mores with Whipped Cream Vodka – $11.00

*NEW* Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut, Champagne ($45/bottle) – $17.00

Moët & Chandon describes their Imperial Brut as having “the vibrant intensity of green apple and citrus fruit,” “the freshness of mineral nuances and white flowers,” and “the elegance of blond notes (brioche, cereal, fresh nuts).”

*NEW* Dom Pérignon Brut, Champagne ($165/bottle) – $32.00

From Dom Pérignon: “Notes of guava and spicy green grapefruit zest combine with stone fruit: white peach and nectarine. The wine opens up, with the whole complemented by woody vanilla and warm, lightly toasted brioche.” “The fruit is majestic: ripe, fleshy and profound. Beyond the richness and a certain voluptuousness is a strong impression of consistency that prevails. The wine’s power is remarkably restrained. The various sensations – silky, salty, sappy, bitter and briny – converge and persist.”

*NEW* Veuve Clicquot Brut Rosé, Champagne ($64/bottle) – $21.00

Gilbert & Gaillard says that the Brut Rosé has “expressive aromas of strawberry and very ripe wild strawberries. A full-bodied, structured, vinous palate which stays fresh. Length and character define this champagne.”

  1. I’ve been reading all the booth reviews, noting the prices, etc., and maybe I missed these, but did you guys cover the Germany (pasta gratin) and the Mac’n’Cheese booths yet?

      • Thanks. Found Germany’s easily since it was new today but had to go “digging” for the other one (all the mac’n’cheese dishes). Wish there was a search feature on this site. You guys are lucky being able to try all these foods right now – I won’t get there until mid November! Yum.
