Governor Gavin Newsom States “Progress is Being Made” on Upcoming Disneyland Reopening

With Walt Disney World back up and running in its phased reopening, West Coast Disney fans are waiting for their parks to reopen. Disneyland Resort may be ready for its reopening, but state governance is still determining when and how that’ll be possible.

In a press conference today, California Governor Gavin Newsom responded to a question regarding progress on theme park reopenings. To this, he replied:

“We’re making a lot of progress in that space. The reason we set it aside… is we still have work to do. Progress is still being made. We’re still working on some details. As soon as we’re at a point where we can make [that] public, we will.”

Within California’s new COVID-19 reopening guidelines, which includes a four tier color-coded system representing various risk levels and what business operations can continue at those levels, theme parks are set aside as their own category in order for moew “dynamic conversations” to take place regarding how and when they can reopen.

These guidelines are set to be in place through flu season and the next few months. In the meantime, lights are back on at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure in preparation for the parks’ imminent reopening.
