Nothing can stop us now! Walt Disney Imagineering has just shared a first look at the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway construction site within Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland Park.
Walt Disney Imagineering posted these photos along with the following caption on the team’s Instagram page:
The first steel beam being installed for the future Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction @Disneyland, scheduled to open for guests in 2023! Disney Imagineers proudly joined Disneyland Resort President @KenPotrock outside the construction zone this morning as the beam was lifted into place.
Previously announced to open in 2022, the attraction is now scheduled to debut in 2023, complete with an “El CapiTOON” Theater facade. In a recent interview with Bob Weis, president of Walt Disney Imagineering, it was hinted at that the project was in fact delayed, but still moving forward “in stages.”
Unlike Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which takes place inside the Chinese Theatre, guests will step into the El CapiTOON Theater at Disneyland, where Mickey and Minnie are premiering their newest short, “Perfect Picnic.”
Before you enter the cinema, you’ll experience a special exhibit created by the Toontown Hysterical Society featuring costumes and props from the toon world.
