Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Gingerbread House Displays Cancelled for 2020

A guest-favorite tradition across various Disney Resort hotels at Walt Disney World, the popular gingerbread house displays have been cancelled for this year’s upcoming holiday season, due to physical distancing guidelines. Disney broke news of the changes with a bit of buffer—by announcing other new modified offerings instead.

Disney Resort hotels will still be decked out for the holidays, with their lobbies featuring iconic trees and other festive flourishes. News of this year’s gingerbread displays was announced just earlier by the Disney Parks Blog:

One thing to keep in mind is that our gingerbread displays will not return to the Resort hotels this year. While we know they are a favorite of people taking in the holiday décor, we’re not able to include those displays due to physical distancing guidelines.

Last year brought a bevy of creative displays, including the first-ever Gingerbread Cabin at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and of course, the classic Cinderella Castle display at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Due to the crowds these magnificent baked structures draw to the resorts, physical distancing becomes increasingly difficult to maintain. However, you can still relive some of last year’s displays in our photo and video posts below—just click the header links to check out the full posts:

  1. For crying out loud, no castle holiday lights, no processional, no ginger bread houses why not just cancel Christmas all together?
