Entire Cast of “Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage” Laid Off at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

In addition to the Citizens of Hollywood, more devastating news of layoffs has surfaced at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with the entire cast of “Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage” laid off as part of the most recent entertainment cutbacks impacting Walt Disney World.

“Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage” had recently been replaced with a modified offering, featuring select members of The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra and characters from “Beauty and the Beast” in a short-lived “The Disney Society Orchestra and Friends” show, which was recently also cancelled earlier in October. Since then, The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra was also laid off.

It’s unknown whether the shows will go dark permanently, but we hope to see the return of these extremely talented performers to the parks very soon. Select equity performers returned to Walt Disney World back in September after initial negotiations, but for the most part, the majority of entertainment across the resort remained dark, with performers on extended furlough up until the recent layoffs. Other impacted shows include “Festival of the Lion King” and “Finding Nemo – The Musical” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as well as the “Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue” dinner show at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
