PHOTO REPORT: Disney’s Hollywood Studios 10/1/20 (Repainting of Legends of Hollywood Sign, New Star Wars Spirit Jerseys, Donald Duck On Motorcade, and More)

Hello from a beautiful fall day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! We had a quiet day here, but we still found some exciting things. Let’s get started!

We started off the day by checking in on some construction projects. On our way to Legends of Hollywood, we came across this cement work on the other side of Sunset Boulevard. It looks like most of the excitement is over, and the new cement just needs to cure.

At Legends of Hollywood, while the sign is still legible under the scrim fabric, we saw some progress here. All of the wire used in attaching the neon to the frame was removed, and the scrim fabric was drilled directly into the wood of the sign.

The sign itself appears to have been repainted, at least in sections, as there is evidence of painter’s tape in the light sockets. The underside of the awning was painted as well, with painter’s tape in each light socket there as well.

Inside Legends of Hollywood, the barrier in between the clothing and Pandora Jewelry sections of the store was completely removed today. We had previously seen it go from an impassable barrier to a monitored walkway, with a Cast Member counting guests in. Now traffic is free flowing here.

Just outside, a new display was set up of the high end designer handbags available in the store, including the newly released and very popular Haunted Mansion Dooney & Bourke handbags. It was nice to see all these lovely pieces getting some love!

In reopening news, we saw this refreshments stand on Grand Avenue near the entrance to Galaxy’s Edge reopen today. It now has a basic menu of ice cream, cotton candy, soda, and beer, and will not be selling the breakfast sandwiches it was known for in the mornings while guests waited to “rope drop” Black Spire Outpost.

We saw an unexpected face on the Mickey & Friends Motorcade today—Donald Duck! This handsome man was strutting his stuff down the street, and we were super happy to see him.

We found some fun new merchandise in the park today. First, we found the newest Spirit Jersey for dogs featuring “The Child” with the words “The Bounty” written underneath. We found this fun addition to the DisneyTails line at The Darkroom, and it retails for $36.99.

Keeping with the theme, we found this awesome Star Wars Spirit Jersey for adults featuring a cosplay-style print of Darth Vader’s suit. For more pictures and information, see our article here.

Next we found this deliciously evil Villains acid washed t-shirt for adults featuring the five popular Villains.

The back of the shirt features each Villain’s signature or logo. It’s good to be bad!

We found three new mugs today while perusing the selection at the 5&10 on Hollywood Boulevard. The first was this fun sketch mug featuring the Cheshire Cat from Alice In Wonderland.

The second was this sketch mug of Stitch from Lilo & Stitch. To see full pictures of all the sketches on these mugs, see our article here.

The third and final mug was this Toy Story logo mug featuring 3D puffy, iconic clouds. This mug retails for $19.99.

We found a Cast Member in the Market today who had a little toddler Porg friend with her who was quite the dancer. It was such a simple moment, but we all laughed so hard, and it made our day. Moments like these are the magical memories made by Cast Members every day in the parks, and we are profoundly thankful for these hard working, beautiful people. Our thoughts are with those who have been effected by the recent lay-offs, may this be a blessing in disguise for you, and may Disney magic carry you on to your next big adventure.

Have a magical day!
