Though the project is rumored to be delayed, work is still ongoing on the illuminated canopy above TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom. We checked in on the ride multiple times this weekend to check on construction.

Construction seems to be complete on the back of the show buildings, which are now almost completely enclosed.

Inside the park, we’ve recently seen workers in high reach vehicles working on the side of the building, but they were absent these past few days.

A significant portion of the illuminated canopy remains on the ground near the building.

There were several workers throughout the construction site these past few days.

The green square on the wall beneath the track seems to suggest work is beginning on enclosing this final part of the show building.

When we checked back the next day, workers were adding a layer of white over the green.

The track remains covered in tarp as the illuminated canopy continues to be installed.

New curved pieces are visible through the support structure.

The reddish-brown supports are only temporary while the canopy is installed.

From Astro Orbiter, we got a good look at where the track enters the show building, though there isn’t much to see.

But a significant portion of canopy was visible.

This gives us a good idea of how the canopy will sit above the track once the support structure is taken down.

More canopy pieces remain to be added at the peak of the track.

More canopy was visible from the Tomorrowland Speedway.

Whether or not TRON Lightcycle / Run is ready in time for Magic Kingdom’s 50th anniversary, we’re excited to see this canopy structure come together.
