Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat have both closed for a three-month-long refurbishment at Magic Kingdom. Today, we noticed that Disney has begun draining water from the Rivers of America to prepare for the refurbishment.
Though not obvious at first glance, looking at where the water meets land makes it clear that drainage has begun.
The usual water line is visible at the shore.
This refurbishment is separate from the Liberty Square Riverboat’s annual weekly refurb, which happened this past summer. The refurbishment is planned to last through at least January 2, meaning both attractions will be closed for the winter holidays.
