Guests riding Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Hollywood Studios will now see a significant operational change as the large sliding doors leading from the queue into the Hondo Ohnaka preshow room are once again opening and closing.

On a visit today, we observed the doors that separate the queue and the preshow are now operating again rather than remaining fixed in an open position.

There are two doors, a left and a right, that separate the main queue from the preshow room, where Hondo recruits guests for a smuggling mission aboard the Millennium Falcon.

When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge first opened, the doors opened and closed as intended. They would remain closed and then open to admit each group of guests before closing behind them once inside the preshow room.

However, shortly after the land opened, the doors stopped operating and were left continuously in the open position.

This is a look from today at the backside of the entrance doors from inside the preshow room after they had closed behind us.

This restored operation now has the intended transition and brings back the original show experience.

A new mission featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu arrived at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland in May.

First announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2024, the new experience features Din Djarin and Grogu from The Mandalorian on Disney+ and the new film, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. The mission’s launch coincided with the film’s release.

Hondo Ohnaka is still a featured character, now stealing the Millennium Falcon instead of borrowing it from Chewbacca. The updated pre-show debuted earlier, removing all references to the First Order and the Resistance so the ride fits with the shifted timeline of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland.

One randomized engineer now picks the location where the crew will travel: Bespin, Coruscant, or the wreckage of the second Death Star above Endor.
