With the weekend over, work has picked back up on the refurbishment of Magic Kingdom’s toll plaza for the park’s 50th anniversary.

The plaza’s three center lanes are currently closed while painting continues.

Work is almost entirely done on the first half of the plaza.

Today, workers seemed focused on the marquee.

The “W” and “E” sections are finished, while some painting remains to be done on the domes above “L” and “C.”

Some of the second half of the plaza already has primer and is ready to be painted in the coming weeks.

Since we last checked, a rose gold sheen has been added to two of the flags above the marquee, so they now match the flags above “W” and “E.”

The last three flags remain blue but will be painted gold and rose gold soon.

The marquee itself doesn’t seem to be getting as major a makeover as the rest of the plaza.

Painters were priming the background of the letters of “Magic” but as we saw with the “M”, this seems to just be in preparation for a fresh shade of blue.

The gold background of the marquee is also being refreshed to better match the gold being used on the rest of the plaza. You can see the subtle difference between the gold on the far left of the marquee and the gold on the right.

Below, work continues on the booths. One worker was painting the booth on the right.

It’s not easy to see what exactly this worker was doing on the center icon of the marquee, but they seem to be working on the “D” logo. A tarp hung below the workers, presumably to protect part of the plaza from paint drips.

The outlines between “L” and “C” will need some more coats of gold.

The first three booths are complete, with the fourth booth nearing completion.

The refurbishment of the toll plaza began one month ago and is scheduled to last eight weeks. So far it seems to be on schedule. Are you excited to see the finished project? Let us know in the comments.
