Disney has finally released the first official teaser trailer for Raya and The Last Dragon, coming to theaters in March 2021.
With a script written by Crazy Rich Asian‘s Adele Lim, “Raya and The Last Dragon” will follow Raya on her quest to find the last dragon. The film will be inspired by Southeast Asia and will combine Disney classics with Hong Kong action films.
Raya is voiced by Kelly Marie Tran, best known as Rose Tico in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Tran takes over the part from Cassie Steele. This is the first time a Southeast Asian actress will be the lead in a Disney animated feature. The film will also star Awkwafina as Sisu, a dragon trapped in a human body who needs the help of Raya so she can reclaim her dragon form. A third protagonist is yet to be announced.
Looks boring. I want to see a beautiful princess (any color) wearing a gorgeous dress in a shiny castle, like Cinderella or Beauty or Frozen, and I’m Asian. But I have to admit, the armadillo looks adorable. I don’t like watching kungfu movies, though. So, I’ll probably just watch clips with the armadillo in it, on youtube.
