In honor of Mickey Mouse’s birthday, the current voice of the iconic character, Bret Iwan, has revealed a sneak peek of the Mickey ears he designed for the Disney Parks Designer Collection.
The Mickey ears, which pay homage to his voice acting by having the ears resemble a microphone, are set to be released at Walt Disney World, the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort, and on shopDisney tomorrow, November 19th.
The “On Air” sign above Mickey’s eyes mean that the mouse is ready to broadcast!
Speaking of broadcasting, the back has a speaker and an on/off button, likely meaning that these ears will broadcast sound. And for vintage technology fans, you may notice that the MMC (representing the Mickey Mouse Club) on the back is in the style of the classic RCA logo, right down to the lightning bolt.
Previous entries in the series of ears have included one celebrating the opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway designed by Imagineer Kevin Rafferty. Iwan’s ears were originally planned to be released over the summer.
Iwan is scheduled to talk more about the ears on the “Celebrate Mickey & Minnie on Their Birthday” panel as part of D23’s Fantastic Worlds Celebration today at 3 PM PT/6 PM ET.
Are these ears something to talk about, or are you ready to take them off the air? Share your thoughts in the comments!
