CONCEPT ART: Closer Look at Immersive “WaterWorld” Land Coming to Universal Studios Beijing

Universal Beijing Resort—which will include Universal Studios Beijing, an as-yet-unnamed second park, CityWalk, and a water park—has been under construction since 2016 and is set to open in May of next year. We recently got a first look at concept art for some upcoming attractions, and we now know more information about the WaterWorld land.

Mike Schwalm posted some of his concept art for the new WaterWorld on Instagram. Waterworld: A Live Sea War Spectacular is a Universal Studios Hollywood attraction that also exists at Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Singapore. Like in Universal Studios Japan, the Beijing attraction will exist in an entire WaterWorld land. This area will include the new restaurant Drifter’s Cantina, visible on the far right of the above concept art.

Team Members will also have new themed costumes. Trader Brandon spoke on Instagram about consulting on the new costume designs, which will be inspired by the Waterworld film.

Concept art for the stunt show itself resembles the arenas used for other versions of the show around the world.

Another major land in Universal Studios Beijing will be Jurassic World Isla Nublar, which we got a closer look at back in August.
