Disneyland Resort Hotels No Longer Accepting Any Reservations as Theme Parks Closure Remains for the Foreseeable Future

As the parks of the Disneyland Resort remain closed indefinitely under California’s theme park reopening guidelines, another sign that the shutdown is here for the long run has emerged.

Currently, resort hotels, including the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, are not accepting any new reservations, including ones beginning in 2021. This comes just a day after reservations through December 31st were cancelled.

While this extends to the general public, thanks to the reopening of select shops and dining locations along Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure beginning November 19th, there are some signs of life. Starting December 6th, villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel will reopen for Disney Vacation Club members, similar to how the phased resort hotel worked when Walt Disney World began to welcome back guests. But this shows that there may not be much more happening, at least for the foreseeable future.

Probably for the better, honestly the state of disrepair at Disneyland Hotel and the other hotels has reached a critical level in recent years and Disneyland Resort Facilities crews have struggled to keep up. Staff will have an extended opportunity for major rehab work around the hotels, work that Disney has quietly been conducting during their guests absence. Be patient everyone, the parks will be back but not like they were before…
