PHOTOS: “The Grid” Show Building Almost Fully Enclosed as Construction Continues on TRON Lightcycle Run in the Magic Kingdom

Construction on TRON Lightcycle / Run continues at the Magic Kingdom despite uncertainty over whether the attraction will open in time for the Magic Kingdom’s 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2021. It’s unclear what, if any, progress is being made inside of the show building. However, work continues on the external illuminated canopy at a slow and steady pace.

Paneling on the back of the show building is complete. Some paneling remains to be finished on the left side.

From the Monorail, we can see a large portion of canopy taking shape above the track.

Workers were busy around a piece of canopy that has yet to be installed.

Another section of canopy seems ready to be hoisted into place.

Additional scaffolding has gone up around the show building’s entrance, as paneling on this section nears completion.

Large white curved pieces form the framework for the canopy, while temporary supports remain in place during installation.

Some workers were inside the canopy’s framework when we stopped by. Orange tarp remains on the track itself as construction of the canopy continues.
