PHOTOS: Disney Springs Experiencing Heavy Crowds and Long Security Waits Tonight Ahead of New Year’s Holiday

Even in the midst of a pandemic, some traditions have remained… including plenty of guests around Walt Disney World during the holiday week. Our reporters noticed heavy crowds at Disney Springs, causing some delays in entering the shopping and dining complex.

Earlier tonight, we spotted a long line just to get in, with a 25-minute wait to get through security on the West Side. Elsewhere, a reporter entering via the Orange Garage said there was no wait for security.

Parking also proved to be troublesome, with many relegated to surface parking over the course of the night. The Orange Garage was listed as full when we visited, though plenty of spots were still open.

Once we got into the complex, it was easy to see that the week between Christmas and New Year’s had brought its fair share of guests. The walkways were packed, especially as seen above at the Marketplace.

Inside World of Disney, the shop was packed with guests. Several were still looking at holiday merchandise, with select items on sale for up to 70% off.

Meanwhile, as we reported earlier today, the theme parks are also filling up for New Year’s Eve, with no Park Pass reservations available for Annual Passholders and the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios completely booked for all ticket types.
