Work continues over at the former Universe of Energy as the corrugated panels on the roof of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT are now entirely covered in plywood.

Solar panels will (eventually, supposedly) be installed on the plywood as an homage to the original pavilion.

The yellow railing is temporary while work continues on the roof.

As we noticed a few days ago, quite a bit of scrim has been erected in front of the building’s facade.

The shape of the scrim has changed slightly, with the far left now dipping in instead of jutting out.

We can still see some of the metal framework that will shape the facade. There are now metal pieces stretching diagonally down from the roof.

Here is the most recent concept art for the attraction’s exterior, revealed at last year’s D23 Expo.

Artist concept rendering: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be the first “other-world” showcase pavilion at EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The adventure starts in the Galaxarium, a planetarium-like exhibition that explores the similarities and mysteries of the formation of Earth’s galaxy and Xandar. Guests will be invited to learn more about the treasures Xandar has to share – until the moment when the Guardians of the Galaxy arrive, and adventures across the cosmos ensue. The attraction will feature a new innovation from Walt Disney Imagineering – a storytelling coaster that rotates 360 degrees to focus guests on the action, including the first reverse launch on a Disney coaster. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has gotten a lot of hype lately as work on the project is progressing after months of delays. We got a first look at the inside of the track and its ride vehicles a few weeks ago, and Groot even recently visited the attraction.
