UPDATE: The all-new Keister Coaster water slide has been fully uncovered at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. Click here to check out the full reveal!

Walt Disney Imagineering had their peak “2020 moment” earlier this week when they excitedly unveiled the design of the new Keister Coaster water slide at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort… only to realize that Keister was incorrectly spelled as “Kiester” on the artwork. (Technically, while both spellings are correct, this went against official Disney nomenclature, including all references to the slide on the Walt Disney World website and even the copy that was used along with the photo.)

Initial artwork for the Keister Coaster water slide showed “Kiester” spelled incorrectly.

The photo, which was initially shared on Walt Disney Imagineering’s Instagram account, was also shared by Imagineer Zach Riddley on his Instagram. However, once word got around about the misspelling, the post was quickly pulled, and Riddley posted a note about it on his Instagram Stories, along with a cropped version of the artwork:

Today, Disney has followed up with photos of the corrected version of the slide artwork:

In the photo above, you can see that the typo has been addressed by way of a new decal. The Imagineer shown is using a smoothing tool to press out any bubbles from underneath the decal and make sure it adheres to the backdrop. Of course, this also inadvertently speaks to what many fans have deemed overuse of decals throughout Walt Disney World, with projects no longer becoming the feats of artistic mastery we’ve seen Disney create over the years.

The all-new Keister Coaster water slide design at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort features Mickey and friends in a style akin to the new animated shorts, similar to Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

Zach Riddley’s caption includes a nod to the initial typo, claiming that the team has since triple-checked spelling for the new iteration of the slide:

Our @waltdisneyworld and @WaltDisneyImagineering teams are even closer to completing the brand-new design at the end of the Keister Coaster slide at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. In these sneak peek photos with the updated graphic (that’s kEIster! We triple-checked!), you can see that Mickey Mouse and his pals are the ones clowning around as they splash down into Luna Park Pool. I can’t wait for guests to join along in the fun when the slide reopens soon!

The slide is set to reopen “soon” after refurbishment at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. Sky-patterned scrims have been up at Luna Park Pool since removal began on the former clown facade. The official Walt Disney World website says that the pool, complete with waterslide, is expected to reopen “before the end of 2020,” though they add that dates are subject to change.

  1. I love that the pool area is named after the BEST PRINCESS OF ALL TIME, PRINCESS LUNA from My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. SHE’S EVEN BETTER THAN DISNEY PRINCESSES.
