The Wave Lounge at Disney’s Contemporary Resort has a new menu of “Festive Spirits” cocktails for the holidays. Any cocktail lover will want to try these out. Read on for our festive review!
Santa Colada – $14
Served in a tall glass with ice and a green sugar crystal rim, the Santa Colada contains Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Rumchata Liqueur, lime juice and agave nectar. We hoped that the mix of flavors would work, and while the combo of coconut rum and Rumchata tasted good, the overall mixture was way too heavy on the lime, overpowering the creamy flavors. This doesn’t taste Christmas-y at all, and therefore wasn’t our favorite.
Mistletoe Mule – $14
Served in a classic mule mug, the Mistletoe Mule features Bacardi Superior Rum, cranberry juice, and lime juice topped with ginger beer and dried cranberries. We found this one to be a bit heavy on the ginger beer, which dominated the flavor profile of the drink. A splash of more cranberry juice would’ve given this a more festive flavor, but it’s still a perfectly good mix.
We found this to be deceptively easy to drink, so make sure to exercise a bit of… caution if you’re imbibing in this merry mule.
Peppermint Kiss – $14
Served in a beautiful tall martini glass topped with whipped cream and crushed peppermint candies, the Peppermint Kiss features house-infused Peppermint Svedka Vodka, agave nectar, and chocolate syrup.
We found this drink to be really enjoyable, with a rich chocolate flavor melding perfectly with the classic martini taste we know and love. The peppermint infusion is pleasant, but not overwhelming or toothpaste-y. Don’t be fooled by the abundance of cream and candy in this one, it’s very strong, but masked well.
