The latest Trader Sam’s tiki mug and cocktail have cruised into Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort… in a different location than usual.

The Citrus Surfer, which would normally be at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, has instead washed up at Tambu Lounge for a limited time.

This radical libation is made with Pyrat XO Reserve Rum, Appleton Estate Reserve Rum, Orgeat (Almond) and falernum with lime, lemon, orange and grapefruit juices, all served in an ocean-blue tiki mug.

You order the cocktail at the bar…

…and then pick up your mugs at a designated table inside the ‘Ohana restaurant.

The mugs come pre-packed in boxes to keep them safe.

Meanwhile, the mug is decorated with waves and a tiki surfboard. Those familiar with Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at Disneyland Resort may recognize this as a navy blue variant of the Tangaroa Surfboard, which came out last year in February.

The drink is initially alcohol-forward, but after vigorous stirring, it gets better.

It’s orange-scented, with prominent grapefruit and lemon flavors, punctuated with notes of the rum.

The fruit juices tasted fresh, and there was a little pulp on the bottom. Ultimately, it’s light, very citrusy, and refreshing. It’s perfect for a hot Florida day.

Meanwhile, the mug steals the show.

One of the tikis even gives a “hang loose” hand sign!

By now, you may have noticed a serious difference between the size of the drink and the size of the mug. Given that they come separately but are sold together, it takes two drinks to fill up the whole mug.

The Citrus Surfer sells for $32.00. You can purchase the mug without the drink, but the price (and limit of 2 per person) is the same. And given how popular Trader Sam’s mugs are, we suggest hanging ten and heading to the resort soon before they surf away.
