RUMOR: Disney+ is Merging With Hulu

According to Collider, Disney is looking into merging their two streaming services, Disney+ and Hulu, into one.

Disney+ recently surpassed 73 million subscribers, while Hulu has over 36 million. Folding Hulu into Disney+ could create a platform appealing to families and adults, and potentially bring the platform to over 100 million subscribers.

It’s unknown what a combined Disney+ and Hulu would look like, but most likely parental controls would have to be imposed to separate the more adult material from Hulu.

  1. I don’t see this happening. Disney owns D+ outright, but they don’t own all of Hulu and while it would be nice to get the Hulu content down in Australia, the amount of existing contracts from other content providers makes it hard to see happening.

Plus Comcast is unlikely to let their content hit anything branded Disney, given that was one of there issues when Disney got the lions share of control. If anything, I can see discounted bundles being available for those in the USA to allow for both, or a more grand expansion into other markets for Hulu, because that 73m D+ subs, is global, not just USA based.

  2. Even though it’s a rumor, merging the two streaming services together is a bad idea. Disney+ should stay Disney+. Hulu has adds when we watch material. I don’t want to see that on Disney+.

  3. My question is, what about the subscribers of whom that are subscribed to BOTH streaming services, what happens then
