It’s a rainy Saturday here at the Universal Orlando Resort. Grab your poncho and umbrella and let’s jump in and see what’s new around the parks.
As we arrived to Universal Studios Florida, we spotted tents set up around the park in preparation for Mardi Gras. We can’t wait to try some of these food offerings! You can check out the tasting menus here.
The weather seemed to be keeping the crowds away this morning, but as the rain stopped, we noticed more crowds arriving throughout the afternoon.
Lines for food weren’t too bad, but we decided to try out the nachos from the snack stand in KidZone. This location used to sell Dippin’ Dots, but now it offers nachos and churro bites. These loaded nachos were absolutely delicious! White queso sauce, beef picadillo, cilantro-tomato salsa, and jalapenos served over tortilla chips was exactly what we needed after getting soaked in the rain this morning.
Inside the Williams of Hollywood Prop Shop, we noticed the Wakita sign was finally sold.
Wait times weren’t too bad, but we noticed that Ollivanders was one of the highest with a 75 minute wait for the Wand Experience.
Pins, keychains, and magnets were on sale in MIB Gear. They’re mix and match 3 for $9.99. There were lots of great designs, including Wizarding World merch and even the retro 30th anniversary pin.
As we made our way into Islands of Adventure, we spotted something on top of the entrance of the new Jurassic World VelociCoaster. It was a raptor, and a second one was being lifted up and installed right in front of us. You can see more photos and videos of these new raptors here.
Those weren’t the only clever girls we found today. As we made our way through Jurassic Park, we spotted what looked like a new rock structure near the bypass bridge. As we got closer, we spotted another wrapped up raptor staring menacingly down from above. We also got lucky and got to watch them bring in the second raptor and install it atop the other structure on the left. You can watch our YouTube video of the installation below.
We can’t wait to see these raptors unwrapped like Blue!
We stopped into Jurassic Outfitters and were lucky enough to spot a limited edition chase Funko Pop!
It’s been a cold, wet day, so we’re going to warm up with a hot chocolate from the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen. We’ll be back again real soon, so be sure to stay tuned to WDWNT and Universal Parks News Today for more updates!
