Even with the new fountain complete, work continues on the entrance of EPCOT. Construction walls are now up on the plaza’s eastern end as the next stage of construction begins.
The walls reach to the foot of Spaceship Earth, obscuring the stroller/ECV rental location, which remains open.
The work is apparently focused on the concrete, which will have a swirled pattern once complete, which will compliment the planters.
You can see earlier stages of the work courtesy of @bioreconstruct on Twitter, who took aerial photos of the area back in November. The differently-shaded sections should interweave, creating a futuristic look.
In addition, this construction will likely also include the posts for the flags and decorative elements that have been featured in concept art, which you can see below:
This is all part of Project Gamma, the massive project to overhaul the park. While certain elements, including the Festival Center, have been cut from the plans, it seems momentum is still strong for this inspiring new entrance.
