The wand experience in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Orlando Resort is now allowing two parties and up to ten people into one room.

Since reopening after the COVID-19 closure, the wand experience in Ollivanders has had one party per room and guests could pick who in their party would get chosen to test wands. Of course, there have also been social distancing markers in the queue and waiting area.

We visited the Diagon Alley Ollivander’s location in Universal Studios Florida for our wand experience. With two parties per room, we were each instructed to stay in one corner. There are no dividers or social distancing markers indicating where each party should stand.

Who is chosen for the experience is once again up to the wandmaker. There is a social distancing marker for the chosen guest so that they remain six feet away from the wandmaker.

An additional social distancing marker keeps the rest of the guests further back. Again, this marker does not indicate where the guests should stand as parties should remain in their designated corners.

Team Members told us that the wand experience will be accepting up to ten people from one or two parties into one room. Thankfully, we were only in the room with two other people.

  1. This is not true. While there are socially distanced stickers/markers everywhere throughout the parks. People are not abiding by them at all times (especially in the shops and many times in line for rides). Granted Universal employees are doing their best to constantly make announcements, and stop people to tell them to pull their mask up. However, most of the time it still felt crowded throughout the parks (especially in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter). Olivanders was not an exception either. There were at least 5 different parties plus employees when my family was in Olivanders. At times we were shoulder to shoulder with others. We were just there from Dec. 26th-30th.
