“The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure”, inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Soul, is now open in EPCOT. This new exhibit celebrates the history and culture of jazz as an African American art form.
Walt Disney Imagineering worked with jazz experts and institutions to learn more about the history of jazz music and bring it to life in this exhibit. Disney Parks Blog shared a video of musician Jon Batiste, who provided the original jazz compositions for Soul, talking about the exhibit.
“The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure”‘s opening coincides with the beginning of Black History Month, as well as the ongoing Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.
Banners for “The Soul of Jazz” now hang in front of The American Adventure, featuring Joe Gardner and other jazz musicians from the new Pixar film.
Inside, guests will find information about the history of jazz as well as artifacts from famous jazz musicians.
These informational posters replaced paintings that used to hang in The American Adventure rotunda.
Each poster focuses on a different American city and how jazz developed there.
Artifacts include a trumpet once played by Louis Armstrong in the 1960s.
There’s sheet music and photos of various jazz musicians.

A great American cultural icon. Jazz fans must travel to New Orleans and visit the Jazz museum presented by the NPS. Also, you have to hear a concert at Preservation Hall.
instead of showcasing African American IPs For black history month, Do an exhibit of past & current African American CMs who played a role in building the Walt Disney Company. Doesnt have to be a Exec level like Chapek or iger, even a greeter , or Custodial worker or Security officer, Construction laborer, all varieties of black Cast members had a role in building this company. That in my opinion is the best tribute, cause youre not ignoring their contributions and sweeping them under a rug, but your honoring them.
That is better than the old paintings it replaces – This is the real America. Love all these changes that are going place recently!
As long as the original quotes and painted masterpieces return after Festival of the Arts/February or are moved upstairs on to be on display, I’m cool with this. Jazz is such an important part of the American story. I love that they have Luis Armstrong’s trumpet!
Did this replace The American Adventure show and if so is it temporary, or is this an exhibit within the American Adventure show?
It’s just an exhibit.
