PHOTO REPORT: “A Touch of Disney” Event in Disney California Adventure 3/20/21 (New Food Items, Cars Land at Night, Physical Distancing Preparations in Stores, and More!)

It’s now the third day of “A Touch of Disney” at Disney’s California Adventure! We were here Thursday and Friday but today, let’s look at some of the new food offerings at the event, Cars Land at night, preparations in unopened stores, and more!

We entered the Mickey & Friends parking structure at 11:30 AM. The line wasn’t as bad as it had been the previous two days. Parking at the hotels on Harbor Boulevard and walking to the pedestrian entrance has been popular among guests. People would rather not deal with the wait and not have to walk from the other side of the resort.

Our temperature screening and bag check took only a few minutes.

While walking from the parking structure to the park does take a bit longer, we think it gives guests enough space to distance themselves from one another safely.

Friday and Saturday morning were much quieter than opening day on Thursday. Guests are directed to get in line in front of the park immediately after exiting the tram route.

Let’s get started!

Cars Land, Pixar Pier, and Paradise Gardens tend to be the most popular areas at the event.

While most of the Disney California Adventure stores remain closed, we were still able to peek into a few. Ramone’s House of Body Art has physical distancing markers and signage placed around the store in preparation for the park’s opening.

Pacific Wharf has also been a very popular area. Rita’s Baja Blenders, Cocina Cucamonga, and Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop are open and serving guests. For a look at the full menus for the event, click here.

For most of the day, we tried some of the new food offerings for “A Touch of Disney.” We will have full reviews for all of these items on our site. At Ghirardelli’s, we tried the Gold Rush Carmel Sundae for $13.75. This dining location does not accept the $25 Disney dining cards.

As the sun sets, so do the guests. After 7 PM, most people start heading out. Others stay to enjoy the nighttime lights around the park. It is hard to find enough to fill the whole 8 hours of the event, so we recommend coming around 2-3 PM to avoid crowds in the morning. You will still have plenty of time to see characters, try food, and then end the night off with some beautiful views.

One more walk around Cars Land before heading out for the night.

Fillmore’s Taste-In is not open, so the carts have been filled with miscellaneous props.

Sarge’s Surplus Hut also remains closed with the rest of the stores in Cars Land.

We miss hearing the randomized music tracks at Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree.

Last stop: Buena Vista Street.

The trees always look beautiful at this time of year. I’m happy we were able to see them this year as last year at this time, the park was closed.

If you are looking to do some shopping at this event, Five & Dime and Julius Katz & Sons are both open on Buena Vista Street. At this point, guests finished their merchandise hunts and started to head out for the night.

We will be back on Sunday for some Disney California Adventure fun. Thanks for following along! What do you think of this ticketed event? Leave a comment!
