With the beginning of the ticketed “Taste of Universal” event at Universal Studios Hollywood, guests can step inside the park for the first time in a year. Among all the exciting shopping and dining opportunities is the brand-new Minion Cafe, which opened its doors for the first time today.
A sign on the street corner leads guests to the new counter-service restaurant.
Four minions are climbing the neon sign.
The building’s first floor is completely painted yellow, while Minions are visible on the stone second floor.
There are colorful flower boxes near the neon sign.
Gru’s silhouette is visible in one window.
The menu is posted on the Super Silly Fun Land archway outside.
There is physically distanced seating, and a designated entrance and exit.
The chairs are all yellow or teal blue. There’s a counter that would be for self-service cutlery or toppings, but it’s not available right now.
Desserts are on display right as you enter the cafe.
We’ll be reviewing both the hazelnut banana pudding and the unicorn cupcake in a separate post.
A screen behind the counter shows all of the menu options.
The restaurant has some simple meals like chicken tenders and grilled cheese, but there’s also the more exciting grilled cheese with meatballs, and chicken, bacon, and ranch mac n cheese.
The interior of the cafe has a colorful, blocky design mixed with brick walls.
Minimalist artwork hangs on the walls.
The lighting fixture hanging in the middle of the restaurant also has minimalist Minions art, and a giant Minions eye staring straight down.
