Shortly after we shared the installation of some new lighting on the marquee of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley revealed that an additional LED lighting package has been added to the Chinese Theater — and we have photos and video of the new lights in action!
The upgraded nighttime appearance of the Chinese Theater features bright gold accents and energy-efficient LED lighting. This golden look is reminiscent of what the theater would’ve looked like in the evenings during the early days of the park.
Park guests may remember the spotlights that radiated into the sky, and now they have made their return (albeit thinner as they aren’t actual spotlights), welcoming guests to the Hollywood that never was, but always will be.
These spotlights bring “premiere night, every night” energy as they highlight an iconic golden age of Hollywood architecture.
The spotlights can be seen from throughout the park. In the photo above from Echo Lake, you can see them beam into the sky.
What do you think about the new lighting package? Are you glad to see the return of “spotlights” to the Chinese Theater? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
I Love It!!! That’s really cool!
