Zach Riddley of Walt Disney Imagineering has shared a first look at the new lighting coming to Spaceship Earth at EPCOT on Instagram:
What Riddley refers to as one of the “points of light” is not yet installed permanently, but was hung as a test recently.
Once fully installed, the entirety of Spaceship Earth should look something like the concept art provided, with these lights located between many of the Alucobond panels:
The new nighttime lighting package was announced as part of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration”, the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World which will kick off October 1st, 2021. The new look will debut by then, but will remain as a permanent fixture of the reimagined EPCOT.
So, what do you think of these lights that will cover Spaceship Earth?
I hope we really can’t see them all that clearly all the time… I love looking up at the ball, and don’t need to be seeing these goofy bobbles all over… 😰
Aren’t these the exact light fixtures used in some closets on property? They’re not that bright. Not everything should be recycled to save money, Bob.
