Shouting Must Be Limited (Even on Roller Coasters) at California Theme Parks Upon Reopening

Shouting, as an activity that may cause an increased spread of COVID-19, will need to be limited upon the reopening of California theme parks, including Disneyland Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood.

The California Attractions and Parks Association (CAPA) website addresses shouting in their breakdown of Governor Newsom’s Blueprint For a Safer Economy.

CAPA lists face covering usage and modifications to attraction loading patterns as a solution to shouting possibly spreading the virus. They also point out that guests usually face in one direction on a ride.

Japanese theme parks have previously recommended guests not scream on roller coasters so as to mitigate the spread. Screaming has not been addressed at Florida theme parks, but face coverings are required at all times.

California theme parks will be allowed to reopen as of April 1, 2021. Bob Chapek announced that Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure would reopen in late April.

  1. I don’t understand why people scream on rides anyway. What does it accomplish? Even on Test Track, has nobody driven on a curved road at 60 MPH before? It’s the same thing but everyone acts like they’re going to die.

  2. I wouldn’t be surprised if they brought back the scream shields from Maliboomer and put them on the incredicoaster or other rides with shoulder harnesses.

  3. I’m almost speechless here. The nonsense is out of control. Have fun, but too much fun, because, ya know “science.” Fools.
