“Book with Confidence” Flexible Cancellation Policy at Walt Disney World Set to End Next Week

As a result of COVID-19 related travel issues, Walt Disney World Resort adopted a “Book with Confidence” flexible cancellation policy that began last year. As of May 1st, 2021, that policy is ending.

Under this flexible policy, guests could “Book with Confidence” knowing that they would not be penalized for needing to change or cancel their resort stays.

For guest stays booked on or after May 1st, 2021, the “Book with Confidence” policy ends and the standard Walt Disney World® Resort Cancellation Policy will return. That policy is listed below:

Walt Disney World Resort Cancellation Policy

  • For cancellations made 30 days or more prior to guest arrival, amounts paid, minus cancellation fees assessed by third party hotels or other suppliers, non-refundable runDisney race registrations, non-refundable travel protection plan costs, and other amounts owed, will be refunded.
  • For cancellations made 2 days to 29 days prior to guest arrival, amounts paid, minus a cancellation fee of $200.00 per package and minus any cancellation fees assessed by third party hotels or other suppliers, non-refundable runDisney race registrations, non-refundable travel protection plan costs and other amounts owed, will be refunded.
  • For cancellations made 1 day or less prior to guest arrival or for no-shows, the full price of the package is non-refundable.
  • No refunds are given for cancellation of any personalized products or experiences.
  • No refunds will be made for early departure from hotel and for unused or partially used admission tickets, options or features, including meals.
  • Any refunds allowed by Disney in its sole discretion after arrival must be requested in writing within 90 days after departure and may be assessed a $25 processing fee.
  • Disney reserves the right to make refunds in accordance with the method that payment was received. All appropriate refunds will be made through the guest’s travel agent if payment was made by the travel agent. Disney is not responsible for the receipt of refunded monies by guests from their travel agents.

  1. Then its time for fast pass and fireworks at the very least. Entertainment and currently closed restaurants and stores next. Finally, character meet and greets. Come on Disney! Let’s do this!! Give the people what they want for their money

    • Looks like the people are gladly paying for a substandard experience already. Shhh, don’t tell Disney. I’m sure they aren’t aware.

    • I agree. Fast passes, no masks outside, and trams in the parking lots are just a few of the things that could easily return at this time.

  2. So I booked a vacation for January 2022 and if I read it correctly I can not cancel my vacation for free anymore in 7 days?

    • No. It’s based on when you booked it, not the dates of you trip according to the article. So, whatever policy was in place at the time of booking – which if it was before May 1, 2021 would be “Book with Confidence”, then you should be just fine.

I agree that other things need to change too, like the removal of the reservation system. If the Pandemic is no longer a reason to allow folks to cancel freely, then perhaps we no longer need a reservation as well. Just my thoughts.
