Today the CDC announced that those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are safe to participate in outdoor activities without a face mask. However, they followed up by noting that fully vaccinated people should still wear masks in crowded public outdoor settings.
This means that the recommendations for all guests to wear face masks at theme parks are unlikely to change at this time.
Orange County Mayor Jerry Demmings said earlier this month that the local mask mandate might be lifted by late summer. It’s unclear how the CDC’s new recommendations will affect his decision. Both Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort are in Orange County and subject to the mask mandate.
Stay tuned to WDWNT for more updates on COVID-19 safety measures at the Florida theme parks.
As anticipated, the CDC contradicts itself yet again and continues to issue baseless guidance for most people. #defundthecdc
Absolutely ridiculous. No one should be wearing a mask outside or anywhere.
When exactly is late summer? Mid August? Early September?
What a waste to get a vaccination if the guidelines continue to stay the same. I know be patient!!
Where is the incentive to get vaccinated? I’ve had both doses, have no chance of contracting or spreading COVID, but the rules stay the same? Is this about health or power?
It must be about power. After all, anyone wielding the power to make you continue to wear a mask holds absolute control over society. Their powers are limitless.
Actually, you can contract and spread COVID to other people. Chances of dying are decreased but still possible. Think of the vaccine like a flu shot and how you could still get the flu and give others the flu.
So in other words there was no point to getting the covid Vaccine….The survival rate is so high higher then the flu, it should be an option, like the flu Vaccine and enough with the mask they do more harm then not… where’s the commen sense in this country anymore 🤔
Well actually Instigator, you can still spread the virus, you may have antibodies to protect yourself, but your body still contracts the virus and therefore you can still spread it. I understand your frustration, my family are going to Disney/Universal on May18th, and we DO NOT want to wear a mask, my Wife and I are also fully vaccinated. But we need to be careful with mis-conceptions that we cannot contract the virus and still spread it, that is not true unfortunately.
power
It’s about health. These other users saying it’s about “power” or other ridiculous nonsense are folks who have no knowledge about actual facts and other pieces of information. They believe the virus is fake. (Which it’s not.) So trust the real people that are here to keep us safe and do not listen to those who do not grasp proper information about the situation that is still at hand. Use proper common sense. Please keep those masks on.
And they wonder why there is a slow down and resistance to get the vaccine. Can’t imagine why
So ridiculous to make the guidelines the same for people whom are vaccinated and those whom are not. No wonder there are so many people not willing to get vaccinated! Need to allow people who are vaccinated to go mask free! Then there would be incentive to those who are not vaccinated to get vaccinated. Or we are all going to be wearing masks for a very long time. If you were vaccinated it’s time to be free!!
Yet, the virus will still be spread. Even to you. Keep those masks on.
So then, if you are outdoors in a Disney hotel where it’s not crowded and you are fully vaccinated, you should be able to not wear a mask, right? As long as you slap on a mask before you enter any crowded or indoor area, such as the lobby or food court.
Anyway, this is good news! A small step, but a significant step!
we need two weeks to get this under control. when we get the vaccine we can return to normal. and the great lie continues.
Not to worry…they will change their collective minds on this again soon. CDC is consistently inconsistent. Follow the science…
Wow there’s a whole lot of selfish people in this comments section. Going to a theme park is a privilege. Wear a damn mask, it’s not that much to ask.
