The number of “points of light” on Spaceship Earth at EPCOT has more than doubled. A week ago, the first twelve light fixtures were installed, but now there are at least twenty-eight lights.
The lights can be difficult to see at the corners of Spaceship Earth’s Alucobond panels.
The “points of light” are circular fixtures, currently installed near the top of Spaceship Earth on the icon’s east side.
The new lighting package will create a connected grid across the face of Spaceship Earth, turning it into a “Beacon of Magic.”
This is just one of many projects ongoing at Walt Disney World for the resort’s upcoming 50th anniversary and “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” beginning October 1. This new nighttime lighting is a permanent addition, however.
