After a test a few weeks ago, the first “points of light” fixtures have been installed on Spaceship Earth at EPCOT as part of the icon’s new nighttime lighting package.

Walt Disney Imagineering shared a closer look at the light fixtures last month, which will be installed in a grid between Spaceship Earth’s Alucobond panels.

Once they are all installed, these fixtures will turn Spaceship Earth into a “beacon of magic.”

The lighting will be completed in time for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” beginning October 1 of this year. However, unlike other park icons, this new lighting is a permanent addition to the park.
