We’re checking in on all of our favorite rides at Disneyland, which finally reopened today. In Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, we visited Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which is utilizing a virtual queue. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance was only open for two months before Disneyland Resort closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the virtual queue, guests can try to snag a boarding group at 7:00 AM or 12:00 PM via the Disneyland app. The app will then inform you of when your boarding group has been called and you can head to the ride.
Once you arrive, Cast Members will check your boarding pass as you line up.
Markers help keep the queue physically distanced.
Unfortunately, the pre-show room with Rey and BB-8 is skipped entirely. The experience begins with boarding the Resistance ship, where parties are assigned their own marker to remain distanced.
There are Plexiglass barriers inside the ship where guests are closer together.
Cast Members are of course wearing masks.
There is more Plexiglass aboard the Star Destroyer.
In the prison cell, guests are once again sent to a specific circular marker.
The prison transport vehicles have Plexiglass dividers between the two rows, so multiple small parties can board one vehicle.
After the queue and pre-shows, the ride itself remains largely the same.
