REVIEW: Felonious Float, Savory Pork Ramen Bowl, and Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese from Minion Cafe at Universal Studios Hollywood

Me want Banana! The Minion Cafe, which previously opened with the Taste of Universal last month, is now serving up some delicious food after Universal Studios Hollywood opened to the public this week.

Minions-Cafe-Review

We decided to try three things today: Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese, Pork Ramen Bowl, and Felonious Float!

Minions-Cafe-Review

Felonious Float – $10.00

Raspberry slush beverage swirled with banana frozen yogurt, topped with whipped cream and banana candy

Minions-Cafe-Review

This float was a mix of raspberry ICEE, banana frozen yogurt, and whipped cream.

The flavor is very tart while leaning a little bit on the sour side. The raspberry is way more dominant than the banana yogurt. The texture is just like an ICEE, just with whipped cream making it a bit softer on the top. This drink is definitely a refreshing, but sour punch.

The drink comes with a souvenir Minion spoon/straw.

Pork Ramen Bowl $14.99

This warm noodle bowl includes roasted pork, pork broth, marinated egg, black garlic oil, green onions, and sesame seeds.

Minions-Cafe-Review

For theme park food, this was amazing! We love that this is an offering now. Since the kitchen cooks each bowl fresh, the ramen takes about 5-7 minutes to make and it comes out steaming!

Minions-Cafe-Review

The broth has a great pork flavor that the noodles held very well. The pork actually was pretty good quality and great portion size.

The look of the egg was scaring us a bit, so we didn’t taste it.

Overall, this is a great comfort food dish that has a great flavor and good portion size for the price.

Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese – $14.99

The Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese features savory pulled pork and caramelized onions, plus a banana BBQ sauce for dipping.

Minions-Cafe-Review

This was our least favorite dish. The pork itself was tender but we think the combination of the cheese, onions, and pork together was a bit too much.

The toasted bread was good and had a soft but nice crunch. The fries came out hot and were an average side dish, nothing special.

Sadly, the banana barbecue sauce was very sweet and didn’t compliment the sandwich at all. It did elevate the basic fries just a bit, though. However, we would pass on this offering for the price.
