The service industry has struggled nationally to hire new workers as the pandemic has started to wind down, and many are starting to offer incentives in an attempt to entice more potential workers to apply. One of these companies is Palmas Restaurant Group, most notable for operating the San Angel Inn at EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion.
One job listing on the Palmas Restaurant Group website offers a $1000 “culinary sign-on bonus” with the location listed as none other than San Angel Inn. Palmas Restaurant Group also operates La Cantina de San Angel and La Hacienda de San Angel at the Mexico Pavilion, as well as at El Mercado de Coronado, Rix Sports Bar & Grill, Laguna Bar, Siestas Cantina, and Maya Grill at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, and finally Frontera Cocina at Disney Springs.
Notably, this comes after Palmas Restaurant Group was one of the earliest to lay off Cast Members last year, almost immediately after the Walt Disney World parks reopened in July.
Palmas Restaurant Group is not the first operator at the Walt Disney World Resort to offer a sign-on bonus, with a number of Disney Springs restaurants operated by Patina Restaurant Group offering a $500 sign-on bonus starting last month.
