To celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, locations around Disney Springs are offering special treats for a limited time. Amorette’s Patisserie is a favorite spot for desserts, so let’s check out their entries for the month of May!
Chef Jessi from Amorette’s Patisserie created the Jasmine Tea Cream Tart as one of the month’s specials for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
The other special dessert being offered is the Mulan Petit.
Mulan Petit – $22.00
Matcha and lemon chiffon cakes with green tea simple syrup, ginger honey mousse, lemon curd, and candied ginger crumbs
This is a subtle dessert, in a good way. While trying to be flashy on the outside with its Mulan decor, the real treat lies beneath.
Motifs from the film include a golden dragon and Mulan’s hair comb, with the colors resembling her outfit.
Despite a lot of sweet-sounding elements such as “syrup”, “honey”, and “candied”, this is very much a mature and mild plate. All of the flavors balance well, and outside of a slight sweetness from the ginger honey mousse, what you taste is an overall package versus individual flavors competing with each other.
The matcha and lemon chiffon cakes create a moist, ever-so-slightly citrus base, and the mousse and curd add richness to a fairly hefty dessert. Its tastes work extremely well, though at $22 it is absolutely a premium item, albeit one which is shareable.
Jasmine Tea Cream Tart – $9.00
Jasmine tea cream, with lychee, raspberry, and passion fruit gelée, and butter nut cookie crust
This tart is small, light, and especially fruity. Raspberry gelée side is the far sweeter and more powerful side, bordering on too sweet for our tastes.
The passion fruit side is more subtle, allowing the jasmine tea cream to shine through. We found merging the raspberry and passion fruit in each bite provided a nice balance of sweet and creamy.
The butter but cookie crust was firm and rich, nicely balancing the other textures and flavors. It’s a nice treat if you aren’t put off by the strong raspberry flavor.
Both of these desserts are available for a limited time at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs. Will you be trying either of them? Let us know in the comments!
