Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Will Not Open Today at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance has been down since Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened this morning and will not be opening at all today.

Twitter user Michael Einiger let us know about the downtime. Guests trying to get a boarding pass at 1:00 PM were shown a pop-up stating the attraction is unavailable.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance has been plagued with technical issues since it first opened in December 2019, frequently not opening for several hours or going down later in the day. On its first birthday, it didn’t start boarding until 4:19 PM.

Keep checking WDWNT for updates about Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

  1. On the west coast, Disney is always talking about how prices are too low and that the company needs to extract more revenue from guests, and yet guests have to fight for the opportunity to experience the newest attractions, when they’re even working at all. Not sure how many times I went to Disneyland 3 hours early just to have the app glitch and shut me out of Rise of the Resistance. If Disney is going to insist that they’re delivering all this value to guests, they need to have things running much more reliably. Imagine spending thousands of dollars on a WDW vacation and the day you go to DHS, the newest, best attraction doesn’t open at all.

    • Yessss, I feel for the guests who genuinely picked this day out of their trip to visit DHS! I hope those guests talk to guest services before leaving, as I’m SURE that Disney would be willing to accommodate them somehow!

      Thank God I’m a passholder 💙

    • We’re going in September, in a large part for Galaxy’s Edge. If I miss out on Rise of the Resistance, tables will be flipped. Hopefully I can at least be privileged enough to make an appointment to give them 100 bucks at Savi’s…

  2. RotR will not get better, only worse. Because if it could get better, it would have happened by now. I think Disney pushed the technology too far such that while it’s great, it’s unstable and unsustainable long term and has to shut down constantly to reset.
