President and Chief Creative Officer of Disney Brand Television, Gary Marsh, stated that this show would answer questions regarding the main story and its characters.

“For anyone who’s ever wondered how a brute like Gaston and a goof like LeFou could have ever become friends and partners, or how a mystical enchantress came to cast that fateful spell on the prince-turned-beast, this series will finally provide those answers…and provoke a whole new set of questions.”

Music will be composed by the talented Alan Menken. Some of his top hits include scores and songs for The Little Mermaid, the animated and live-action Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Pocahontas. Tony Award-nominated director Liesl Tommy will direct the first episode.

  1. A beauty and the beast prequel with neither beauty nor beast. Hm. The question is not whether this movie will lose money, but how much.

  2. Not saying it to be rude, but I will pass. The live-action was alright and would have been such a better film if they had not used Emma Watson. Further, I could live with Dan Stevens as the beast. I’m not really sure what Disney’s live-action vision for these classic iconic Disney films is at present (Ariel, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast live series), however, I do know it’s not for me. I don’t agree with a lot of the decision-making they made when it came to casting, storyline, etc. At least the live-action film Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Mary Poppins, and Sleeping beauty were done well!
