Disney’s Animal Kingdom isn’t the only place guests might spot fun wildlife. An otter was seen today at Disney Springs.

The otter was swimming by the Paddlefish restaurant in Lake Buena Vista, a waterway connected to the Sassagoula River and several other rivers and lakes.

If you’re having trouble finding the otter, here’s a zoomed-in version of the photo:

You can see the otter’s head peeking out of the water in the center of this image.

River otters aren’t uncommon in Orlando lakes and ponds. Otters primarily eat fish and they regularly seek out new territory. It’s possible this otter reached Disney Springs through a drainage pipe or just via land. They aren’t generally a threat, though may attack if provoked, so should be left alone and only handled by professionals.

  1. I actually saw this guy, or another otter, in Disney Springs back in December! I wonder if there is more than one at this point.

  2. How sweet!! He should make a home at Splash Mountain!! It would be his way to protest!! Save Splash Mountain!! Expand the park and add a Princess and the Frog attraction!! So Splash Mountain will remain the same with no changes!!

  3. It’s been many years (pre recent drainage) but I’ve seen otters in the Rivers of America near Tom Sawyer Island.

  4. We have a picture of an otter eating a fish on the bank on the walkway from Old Key West to Saratoga
