PHOTOS: Cage Added to Jurassic World VelociCoaster Bridge to Ensure Safety of Guests Below at Universal’s Islands of Adventure

Universal’s newest attraction, the VelociCoaster, opened officially this month. Since then, there have been some safety concerns including a wig flying off from a guest’s head and ice being thrown at riders as they pass. In order to further ensure the safety of guests both on the ride and near it, Team Members have now installed a cage across the bridge below the attraction’s tracks. Take a look out our findings.

As we visited today, we found that a cage has been overtop a portion of the bridge. This bridge is meant to be a bypass to avoid guests having to go through Hogsmeade/The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to get to the Velocicoaster.

We were told this cage has been added as a safety feature for potential loose objects (like flip flops) coming off as riders pass by on the coaster above.

The bridge still remains closed off at this time, as they have been unable to get clearance for guest usage.

Team Members are also discussing potentially adding additional plexiglass near certain sections of the ride for added safety.

  1. Some people have to ruin things for everyone.
Not sure how thr cage is going to stop ice throwing or flip flops drops without having some plexiglass between the cage sections.

  2. Theme it so it’s like the cage in JP3 for the pterodactyls.
It’s have it go across. Put warning signs up about Dino birds and high voltage wires.

  3. I rode it yesterday, they make sure riders don’t have a single coin on them. At the speed it travels I can only imagine the trauma that could be caused by someone on the bridge throwing something in the path of a rider. Unfortunately we have to consider the chance of a bad decision of someone causing injury to an innocent rider. IMO the safety fence/plexiglass seem like a good idea. BTW. Awesome ride!!!! Enjoy!!!

  4. keeping guests safer is always a good thing. I wish this coaster jad shoulder harness restraints instead of just lap bars. Rode it once, never again!

  5. This is why we can’t have nice things. It’s a shame that these things happen. Spank your children maybe they won’t do stupid things when they grow up lol.

  6. Don’t think it will wrk the way it is with the large open squares. Stuff can still go through the area therefore it needs redesigning.

  7. I get it for things flying off of guests.. How about installing more security cameras in the area or security officers ner the bridge for the disrespectful jackasses throwing things at riders… Then a permanent ejection..

  8. Thanks to the tool-bags throwing ice at the ride in motion. Everyone has to ruin everything these days.

  9. I hope and pretty sure they are thinking about people trying to reach and hi five someone on the ride or a very tall person with their hands in the air won’t be too close to people below or that cage. From the picture it looks so close but it’s probably just the way it looks. People be trying to do dumb stuff every chance they get and I know they don’t want any accidents thanks to someone trying to record their stupidity.

  10. I understand the reason and think the structure of the cage looks appropriate for Jurassic World. I am disappointed in the immature guest that are so inconsiderate and clueless about the ability of harming someone on the ride. #growup

  11. Leave it to the human race to be the ones to ruin everything!… This is why we cant have nice things, because people want to throw ice and shit at riders? Who raised these people? Oh thats right no one.
