We have been intently following the construction of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind for quite some time. The roof construction has been interesting to watch, as layer after layer has been added. A new element has recently been added to the roof.
A metal frame has been attached as a bridge between two roof sections.
A closer look reveals that the frame has four tabs (only three are visible) on the left. It is possible that this section is hinged. This would provide a seamless roof row while allowing workers to more easily perform roof maintenance by swinging the panel out of the way.
The concept art shows what looks like a continuous roof section running the width of the structure.
Not much else has changed above and near the attraction entrance.
The courtyard area still has open pits and excavation equipment. One construction door is open, but we did not see any workers on site.
Much of the construction site is littered with debris and building materials. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was to open for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary in October. A series of setbacks has likely delayed opening until 2022.
