Most years, the reveal of an anniversary celebration at Tokyo Disney Resort would come the year prior, featuring teases at the costumes, theme song, and theme itself. Unfortunately for Tokyo DisneySea, its 20th anniversary has been marred by the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing the Oriental Land Company to remain mum about their plans for this momentous year. With barely three months to go until the park’s birthday, the first real (albeit vague) details have finally come to light.
Twice a year, the Oriental Land Company gifts shareholders who hold more than a certain amount (100+ shares for the June gift, 400+ shares for both June and December) of shares in the company with a special one day passport of their choice to either Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea, featuring a commemorative design with the latest event or anniversary on the front. It’s part of a tradition with Japanese companies to reward their shareholders with small gifts.
And with the Tokyo DisneySea 20th Anniversary fast approaching, the Oriental Land Company chose to celebrate by inadvertently revealing the first details about the anniversary via these tickets, featuring the anniversary logo, the theme “Time to Shine!”, and Mickey’s signature commemorative costume!
Featuring an all-white theme, Mickey’s costume is comprised of a white top hat with shooting stars of multiple colors spread from the front with a gold star at the center, a sparkling gold and white coat and another giant golden accent, and white pants with blue and gold accents.
The Oriental Land Company has yet to reveal further details about the anniversary, but it’s likely that it won’t be too long now with the most critical information now out in the open.
