After 14 Years, Disney Imagineers Fix “Master Gracey” Portrait in The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom

After 14 years facing to the right, Master Gracey’s portrait has now been returned to its original orientation: with the master facing to the left.

In 2007, The Haunted Mansion went through a “Re-Haunting” refurbishment. During this time, Disney changed Master Gracey’s transformation from projector slides to digital; but they also changed the direction he was facing.

From 1971 to 2007, he faced to the left, but they switched him to the right during the refurbishment. Now after 14 years, he is facing to the left again, as he should.

    • It’s a real shame they can’t fix that. The yeti was built into the structure of the ride, they can’t get at it to fix it and would risk damaging the ride structurally. It’s a load bearing yeti 😂
I wonder if they’ve had meetings to discuss how it might be fixed, they may not deem it worth the cost.
That being said, I still think that the Yeti is a pretty big scare! If I didn’t know it was meant to move, I wouldn’t care, it’s still freaky! And I think it would be maybe TOO scary if it moved! But I’m a scaredy-cat, hahaha!

    • I vowed not to ever ride this attraction again unless this was fixed. I may finally enjoy this ride again and not be overwhelmed by disappointment.

  1. Picky picky. I never really paid attention to the photo. Cast members are in such a hurry to squeeze you into a room that I don’t even notice. Who cares which way he is facing.

    • If it doesn’t matter which way the digital portrait is facing to you, in your individual opinion, why bother commenting?

  2. I don’t get what the big deal is on which way he faces. The effect still worked either way.
