In an update to our previous post on July 10, 2021, regarding Star Wars: Rise of The Resistance, access without a boarding group is no longer included as part of VIP Tours at Walt Disney World.
For a short period of time, guests who took part in Walt Disney World’s VIP tour groups could walk onto the attraction without having to hassle with attempting to join the day’s boarding group virtual queue system.
However, this only lasted a few days, and now Rise of the Resistance will once again require all guests, including those in VIP tour groups, to have a boarding group in order to ride the attraction.

That is crazy. All that money and no guarantee.
We did a VIP tour yesterday and rode Rise with no boarding pass. Our guide told us a boarding pass was not needed however if we got a boarding in the morning we would have to go with that boarding group and would not be able to ride with the guide sometime that day. The guides cannot override the boarding group system but can get you on without one. Hope that helps!
As of today it is no longer offered. It has changed back.
Shouldn’t that say REVISION instead of UPDATE? Did Disney change their mind on this? If so, then it would be an update. Couldn’t find a source for the information from the original article.
Yes, it was announced and then they retracted it. It was only stated to guests looking to book, it wasn’t posted online.
Huh. That ought to teach people to pay for the VIP tour.
I’ve done the VIP tours. Officially it’s not included, unofficially it’s absolutely included.
It’s official now
