REVIEW: Spooky Ghost Cupcake is a Bust from Backlot Express and Trolley Car Café at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

It’s a boo-tiful day in Hollywood, so let the Halloween season begin at Walt Disney World! We’re already calling in the spirits in August with some frightful bites on Hollywood and Sunset.

The Spooky Ghost Cupcake is available at both Trolley Car Cafe and Backlot Express.

Sadly, the tip of the ghost’s head will be destroyed by the plastic packaging.

The chocolate part of the cupcake was nice and dense, and not at all dry. The inside fudge had a nice consistency; not too thick, runny, or rich.

The back was baked incongruently, which led to a mass of sprinkles being added for structural stability.

The icing was full of cookie crumbles, with the cookies and cream being true to its name. The meringue at the top was flavorless, with the exception of the presence of sugar sweetness.

Altogether this is a decent cupcake that isn’t overly rich or sweet, but it is awfully basic. We’d leave this one in the trap in favor of something more interesting.
