REVIEW: The Alps Delight with Warm Raclette and a Perfect Tart at the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival 2021

The Alps at the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival wasn’t supposed to open until October 1, but it opened early today! We were excited to return to this booth.

Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Alpine Ham, Baby Potatoes, Cornichons and Baguette – $5.50

We don’t usually like Swiss, but this cheese is very mild. It’s served incredibly hot.

The ham is both sweet and very smoky. The potatoes don’t add much, but the cornichons give a nice balance to the heavier flavors of the cheese and ham.

The baguette was acceptably fresh, but the outside crust was slightly tougher than expected. The inside was soft enough to absorb the flavors of the dish.

Overall it’s a pretty good dish for the price. It is heavy and slightly greasy given the cheese-centric nature, so order with caution depending on where you are in your day

We loved this! It’s an actual block of cheese that they’re melting and then scraping off onto the plate. Unlike many dishes at the festival, this one has a good bread-to-cheese ratio.

The cream is real, hand-whipped cream, not from a can. It’s very moist inside and very delightful.

*NEW* Huber vision Grüner Veltliner, Austria ($17/bottle) – $5.00

From Huber: “Delicate fresh green apple fruity aromas; displaying flavors of lemon; lime and peaches; solid fruit core; rich in finesse; with a beautiful length and mineral tones.”

*NEW* Cave De La Côte Rosé Gamay, Romand ($17/bottle) – $7.00

Cave De La Côte’s tasting notes read, “Nose: red fruit notes (red cherry, raspberry).
Taste: this lively, fruity wine is rounded and balanced.”

René Favre Dôle, Chamoson – $7.00

According to Swiss Cellars, the Dôle is “a generous, robust wine that nicely combines terroir and a rustic character along with the fruitiness of red and black cherries.”

Frozen Rosé – $9.00

Frozen Rosé, $9.00

This is the best “frosé” in Epcot. But remember, it is Walt Disney World, so it’s not going to blow your mind. It’s a very nice, light yet enjoyable frosé. Cheers!
